Good to Know

Before you go

Still deciding? Send us a message and we'll answer anything not covered here.

What's the best time for this itinerary?
July–September is peak monsoon, when the waterfalls run at their fullest. October–April brings clearer skies and better road visibility across the hills — both work beautifully, depending on what you want to see.
Do I need a special permit for Meghalaya?
Indian citizens do not require an Inner Line Permit (ILP) for Meghalaya. Foreign nationals may require a Protected Area Permit (PAP) for certain border areas. We assist with the required documentation, if applicable.
Is the root bridge trek difficult for kids or seniors?
It can be adjusted for fitness level and families with children — shorter root-bridge alternatives near Mawlynnong keep the experience accessible without the longer Nongriat trek.
Is the Dawki boat ride guaranteed?
It's included as an optional add-on to Day 5, and is weather-dependent during monsoon — heavy rain can affect river clarity and boating. Your tour manager will advise on the day.
Can this be a private/family trip?
Yes — this itinerary is designed as a leisure/family escape and works as a fully private trip. Tell us your dates and group size and we'll quote accordingly.
What about food for vegetarians?
Vegetarian and Jain meal preferences can be accommodated at Vivanta, Ri Kynjai, and Polo Resort. Kindly inform your tour manager in advance so that the arrangements can be made seamlessly.
How comfortable are the road journeys in Meghalaya?
Most major roads in Meghalaya are well-maintained. While some hill routes are winding and a few remote stretches can be uneven, experienced drivers ensure a safe and comfortable journey.
